The period June to August 2024 was turbulent but generally positive for financial markets, with equities and bonds both providing positive returns, led by the Nifty 50 in India, which rose +12.01%, reaching a new all-time high of 25,235.90. The period from February to April 2024 was a generally positive one for investment markets, though April did see some drawdowns in previously buoyant indices. The S&P 500 reached multiple all-time highs and rose +3.26% from 4,846 to 5,036, though it did experience a fall of -5.46% from 28th March to 19th April.

The period from November to January 2024 was strong for markets, with the majority of major indices attaining positive returns in each of the three months. The S&P 500 rose +15.54% from 4,194 to 4,846, reaching an all-time high of 4,928 at close on 30th January. Similarly, the Nikkei 225 gained +17.59%, rising from 30,859 to 36,287, with the high for the period coming on 22nd January at 36,547.
